Dive Insight:
Nashville, Tennessee-based Tri Star has gone all-in on foodservice in recent years, especially at Twice Daily, where it rolled out made-to-order foodservice across the chain’s 80 locations in October 2023. That menu includes subs, burgers, empanadas, wraps, snacks and breakfast offerings, as well as chicken sandwiches that launched this month.
Meanwhile, the menu at Sudden Service revolves around fried chicken, which is available in four- and eight-piece bone-in options, as well as tenders and bone-in and boneless wings. Sudden Service also offers fried fish fillets and fried shrimp, in addition to numerous Southern-style sides, breakfast sandwiches and pizza.
That investment in foodservice is growing with Tri Star’s $5 meal deal, which is hitting over 170 convenience stores in three states across the Twice Daily, Sudden Service and Little General banners.
Other convenience retailers that have launched $5 meals over the past year include Circle K, EG America, Wawa and GPM Investments.
Beyond the meal deal, Tri Star has also launched new beverage options at its 23 White Bison coffee shops across Tennessee and Alabama. Those include the White Bison Mocha, served hot or iced with white chocolate sauce and espresso with whole milk and whipped cream; and the Caramel Oat Milk Latte, with dairy-free caramel syrup and oat milk. White Bison’s bakery also added cherry tomato focaccia bread.
