Retail artificial intelligence company Standard AI has named Angie Westbrock as its new CEO, according to a recent company announcement.
Westbrock, who had been Standard AI’s chief operating officer since 2021, replaced co-founder Jordan Fisher as the company’s top executive. Fisher will remain on the Standard AI board as chairman, according to the announcement.
Westbrock’s promotion coincided with Standard AI revealing that it’s moving away from its core business model of autonomous checkout and into vision analytics. Standard AI has also promoted David Woollard from senior vice president of technology strategy to chief technology officer as it moves in this new direction.
Standard AI’s new Vision Analytics platform applies continuous data capture and AI modeling to specific areas in a store to boost revenue and understand customers behaviors. It aims to help retailers identify traffic patterns and shopper interactions, as well as items that are low in stock or out of stock; minimize lost sales opportunities; track conversion rates and sales performance; and evaluate the effectiveness of merchandising strategies.
“This breakthrough in technology provides a level of fidelity to store interactions that has never been possible until now and as CEO, I’m excited to work with our team to bring these insights to our customers,” Westbrock said in the announcement.
This development follows the November introduction of the company’s Zone Monitoring product, which uses computer vision to combat shrink and watch for empty shelves.
Prior to joining Standard AI, Westbrock spent nearly two years with Lyft, most recently serving as the company’s vice president of global operations, where she led its global COVID-19 task force, according to the announcement.
Before Lyft, Westbrock was COO for nutrition company Habit LLC for nearly three years, and held director-level roles with HelloFresh for a year and half before that, according to her LinkedIn bio. She also held roles with Hillshire Brands and Anheuser-Busch earlier in her career.
“I am thrilled to pass the torch to Angie whose deep industry knowledge and experience will build on our technology foundation and guide the company through this next phase of growth,” Fisher said in the announcement.
