Lisa Dell'Alba, president and president CEO of Square One Markets, passed away on Feb. 16, according to her obituary and multiple c-store industry group announcements.
Dell'Alba, 46, led Square One Markets, which her father founded in 1971, since 2009. For five years prior to that, she worked in the company’s human resources department and then as vice president of operations, according to NACS. The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania-based retailer operates 11 convenience stores across The Keystone State.
Dell’Alba was heavily involved with various c-store industry groups through the years, notably NACS. Dell’Alba joined the association’s convention committee in 2010 and was later named to its board of directors. In 2020, she became NACS’ vice chairman of member services and eventually took on the role of treasurer. She was also an active participant in NACS’ Leadership for Success program, the association said.
“There was no part of Lisa that wasn’t about giving back,” NACS President and CEO Henry Armour said in a statement on Tuesday. “She was more than passionate about our industry — she was passionate about the people. She led by example and inspired and motivated so many people.”
Dell’Alba was also the board chair for the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association, a role which she held for nearly five years, according to her LinkedIn bio.
“Lisa made history as the first female Board Chair of PFMA and steadfastly advocated for the association and its members,” the PFMA said in a statement on Tuesday. “Her leadership, passion, and dedication helped move our industry forward in countless ways.”
