Robert Perkins retired from his position as vice president of marketing for York, Pennsylvania-based Rutter’s on March 31, he said in a LinkedIn post on Friday.
“After dedicating 43 years to the convenience store industry, a journey that included the privilege of working with four exceptional organizations — 7-Eleven, Irving Oil, Impact 21, and most recently Rutter’s — I am eager to embark on a new chapter,“ Perkins said.
He spent nearly 18 years with Rutters and over a decade as VP of marketing. Before being promoted in 2011, he served as the retailer’s director of marketing.
Perkins also spent six years as director of marketing for Irving Oil, which has more than 1,000 branded fueling stations across New England, Eastern Canada and Ireland, according to his LinkedIn bio. Before that, he spent 17 years in a variety of roles with 7-Eleven, including supervisor, category manager, market buyer and market manager.
“Day in and day out, I was driven to contribute to the growth and expansion of these businesses, learning an incredible amount along the way,” Perkins said. “Beyond the daily work, this industry has gifted me some truly unforgettable memories and opportunities that many do not get to experience.”
The last few years have been busy for Perkins and Rutter’s. The retailer has rolled out a number of initiatives, including unveiling new store designs and growing its e-commerce capabilities with mobile ordering and delivery. The company is also expanding into new markets as part of a larger growth plan and continuing to evolve its food menu.
