Ruiz Foods, a major foodservice vendor for the c-store industry, has moved its headquarters to Frisco, Texas, where it hosted a grand opening for the site last week, according to an emailed press release. The food distribution firm moved from its former site in Dinuba, California, so that the main office would be more centrally located, according to the release.
“As a national business it is important that we can effectively and efficiently serve our customers and facilities,” said Kimberli Carroll, president and CEO of Ruiz Foods. “Being centrally located in a larger metropolitan market allows us same-day access to all of our facilities, puts us closer to our customers and provides us with greater access to talent for recruitment.”
The company named Frisco as its regional headquarters in 2022, then last year announced that the location would become its main base of operations. The new headquarters covers 25,000 square feet and will eventually provide workspace for 125 employees.
Ruiz Foods still maintains a presence in Dinuba, where it built its first manufacturing facility and distribution warehouse in 1990. Late last month, the company opened an on-site health center for insured workers and their family members at that location. The health center, operated by CareATC, will provide services such as lab tests, chronic health services and generic prescriptions. It is staffed by a physician, nurse practitioner and two medical assistants.
“The convenience of an on-site health center is proven to improve team member health while lowering the cost of care for team members and the company,” said Carroll.
This is the company’s third on-site health center, with previous facilities opening in Florence, South Carolina and Denison, Texas, in late 2023.
Ruiz Foods sells frozen foods to c-stores, food service companies, clubs and other retail outlets. Among the brands it is most well known for are El Monterey frozen Mexican food and Tornados, a roller grill mainstay that wraps various fillings inside a flour tortilla, which is then batter dipped, fried and frozen. The company now has manufacturing sites in California, Texas and South Carolina and sells its products in all 50 states.
