Dive Brief:
- RaceTrac has implemented Invenco by GVR’s asset management cloud-based solution at its more than 800 convenience stores across 13 states, the tech company announced this week.
- This software lets the Atlanta-based retailer remotely manage forecourt equipment at its RaceTrac and RaceWay convenience stores to maximize uptime and reduce the need for on-site repairs. RaceTrac aims to cut unexpected costs through preventative maintenance, stop fuel theft and implement remote fixes through the platform, it said in the announcement.
- RaceTrac is one of several c-store retailers that are tapping into remote-management technologies as a means to reduce friction and lower costs across their businesses.
Dive Insight:
The platform uses application programming interfaces (APIs) to integrate with RaceTrac’s other third-party software and services. This can help automate tasks across RaceTrac’s platforms and programs, which then reduces the need for manual intervention, it said in the announcement.
RaceTrac has automated 59% of its work orders and avoided dispatching maintenance technicians 10,000 times since implementing the program, Bryan Nay, RaceTrac’s director of field services, said in the announcement.
Nay added that the software also helps RaceTrac identify potential issues before they arise.
“This not only reduces operational expenses, but also ensures that problems are addressed quickly, keeping our equipment running smoothly and reliably,” he said.
This isn’t the first time RaceTrac has brought on a new tech program to remotely manage parts of its business. Earlier this year, the company implemented an automated temperature monitoring solution in freezers, refrigerators and hot cases at over half of its locations. This tech allows the company to remotely monitor the temperature of various cases and can send alerts to RaceTrac’s help desk when changes in those readings indicate there may be a problem.
Other c-store retailers that have tapped into remote-management technologies for areas like store security, tire monitoring and point-of-sale systems include Pilot Company, Stinker Stores, Family Express and Gate Petroleum.
