Dive Brief:
- QuikTrip is expecting to open its first convenience stores in Utah next year, a company spokesperson confirmed to C-Store Dive.

- QuikTrip is in the process of entering several new markets, and Utah would mark the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based company’s 20th state of operation.
Dive Insight:
QuikTrip has focused on nationwide expansion over the past year. The company opened its first convenience stores in Ohio and Nevada in 2024 and revealed plans to debut in Kentucky and Florida in 2025.
The common denominator in QuikTrip’s expansion strategy has been its remote travel centers, which the company debuted in 2020. Its first site in each of these new states over the past year has been one of these locations, which encompass about 8,200 square feet and feature QuikTrip’s prepared foods concept, QT Kitchens.
Although QuikTrip’s spokesperson declined to share the number or types of locations planned Utah, it would come to no surprise if these stores are also remote travel centers.
Once it hits Utah, QuikTrip’s top competition will be Salt Lake City-based Maverik, which doubled its c-store network after it acquired Kum & Go back in 2023. According to its website, Maverik has over 160 c-stores across 80 different cities and towns in Utah, including around 20 locations in Salt Lake City.
Spokespeople from the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District and the Utah County Community Development said they are unaware of any QuikTrip c-stores being developed in Salt Lake City and Utah County, respectively.
