Pilot Company has named Jocelyn Caldwell as its new vice president of people and belonging, the convenience retailer announced on Monday.
Caldwell said in a LinkedIn announcement that she started with Pilot on Monday, noting that she was drawn to the company’s “purpose to show people they matter at every turn, something I connect with both personally and professionally. I am ready to dive in and help continue to create a welcoming environment where every team member feels they truly belong.”
Pilot said in its announcement that Caldwell’s leadership “will be instrumental in helping us continue to cultivate a workplace centered on what matters most – our people.” Representatives from the company did not respond by press time when asked for specifics on Caldwell’s role.
Caldwell joins Pilot after spending the past three years with Walmart, where she was most recently the company’s vice president of workforce strategy and organizational development, according to her LinkedIn bio. In that role, Caldwell led a 28-person team that oversaw Walmart’s organization shape and size. She also developed talent strategies, and predicted needed skills and roles for the company’s future workforce.
Additionally, Caldwell oversaw the budget and planning for Walmart’s global workforce; built talent pipeline strategies to close future role and skill gaps; and led workforce integration, which included mergers and acquisitions and insourcing, workforce diligence on corporate transactions, talent migration, separations and redeployment.
Prior to her time at Walmart, Caldwell was a talent partner for Sam’s Club, which is owned by Walmart.
Before entering the retail industry, Caldwell held a variety of business and operational roles at companies across several industries, such as financial services company TIAA, Howard University, South Carolina Retirement Systems, General Electric and nuclear energy company Westinghouse.
Knoxville, Tennessee-based Pilot, which operates nearly 900 travel centers across 44 states and six Canadian provinces, has named several new executives in 2024. Notable appointments have included Gary Hoogeveen, president of the company’s energy arm, Pilot Energy; Andy Lupo, EVP and chief technology officer; and Shannon Sturgil, SVP of alternative fuels.
