Food and beverage distributor Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), will break ground on a new facility on Havana Street in Commerce City, Colorado, about eight miles northeast of Denver, Sept. 28, according to a Tuesday announcement.
The new 265,000-square-foot facility will more than double the square footage of Performance Foodservice’s other Colorado location in Henderson, about 17 miles northeast of Denver. It is expected to be complete in late 2023, PFG said in the announcement.
“The new facility will allow Performance Food Service – Denver to better serve more than 1,100 customers by increasing warehouse space, adding state-of-the-art automation and creating 145 new jobs over the next ten years,” PFG said.
Once built, Performance Foodservice will operate 67 facilities across 31 U.S states. In total, PFG has more than 150 distribution centers across the country and parts of Canada, serving more than 300,000 customer locations.
PFG’s Convenience division has long been one of the primary foodservice suppliers for the c-store industry. The company’s turnkey programs for c-stores include Mexican and Southwest quick-service restaurant (QSR) Contigo Taqueria; made-to-order and grab-and-go deli, Deli 55; fried chicken QSR Perfectly Southern; Red Seal Pizzeria; Tru-Q BBQ; and Vai Fresco frozen pizzas.
PFG’s Convenience business — which aligned under the Core-Mark brand in early September — serves more than 50,000 customers through 39 distribution centers across the U.S. and Canada.
