Performance Food Group has named Scott McPherson as executive vice president and chief field operations officer, effective Jan. 1, 2024, according to a Monday announcement.
McPherson had led PFG’s Core-Mark division — one of the most notable c-store foodservice vendors in the U.S. — for several years prior to this promotion. He will be replaced in that role by Chris Hobson, former COO of Core-Mark.
In his new role, McPherson will lead PFG’s Foodservice business segment while also overseeing PFG’s snacking arm, Vistar, and its convenience businesses, according to the announcement. He will also provide strategic oversight to line operations across PFG’s distribution businesses.
McPherson has held several leadership roles over the past 30 years with Core-Mark. In his most recent role, he was executive vice president of PFG and president and CEO of its c-store segment, which included leading both Core-Mark and Vistar. Other roles McPherson has held with Core-Mark include senior vice president of business operations and development and senior vice president of U.S. divisions, according to his LinkedIn bio.
In his shift from COO to CEO of Core-Mark, Hobson will add finance, human resources and information technology responsibilities to his current oversight of the brand’s performance, enterprise growth, marketing, purchasing and merchandising.
Besides his most recent role as COO, Hobson has held several positions with Core-Mark since joining the company over 20 years ago, including division president, vice president of marketing and senior vice president.
Alongside McPhearson’s and Hobson’s promotions, Sean Mahoney has been promoted to president and CEO of Vistar, having most recently been its president and COO.
Mahoney joined Vistar in 2014 as channel vice president and has since held numerous leadership roles such as multichannel vice president and senior vice president of sales and marketing.
Richmond, Virginia-based PFG’s convenience division serves more than 50,000 customers through 42 distribution centers across the U.S. and Canada. Its turnkey programs for c-stores include Mexican and Southwest QSR Contigo Taqueria, made-to-order and grab-and-go deli Deli 55, fried chicken QSR Perfectly Southern, Red Seal Pizzeria, Tru-Q BBQ and Vai Fresco frozen pizzas.
