PDI, the convenience retail and fueling technology company, has struck a new agreement with AI information management company Square 9 Softworks to help c-stores automate back-end operations, according to a Tuesday press release.
The two companies’ expanded partnership will allow customers to use AI-driven solutions for extracting data and making it available to more enterprise resource planning and back-office software.
"Our Accounts Payable Automation products have proven to be a strong addition to an already great product line, and our goal now is to introduce automation into other areas where AI can make a real difference," said Stephen Young, president and CEO of Square 9 Softworks.
Square 9 first began integrating with PDI when c-store chain EZ GO — which was acquired last year by Love’s Country Stores and Travel Stops — had just switched from paper to electronic invoices and was looking for a way to make those invoices searchable and easier to approve.
The company wanted to use Square 9’s GlobalSearch solution, but needed it to integrate with the existing PDI enterprise management software. The solution not only addressed EZ GO’s needs but had benefits for maintenance and integrating remote work as well, according to the company’s website.
Square 9 did not return requests for more details about that partnership by press time.
"This automation capability with Square 9 and PDI Enterprise is the latest offering to improve accuracy, transparency, and control as we continue connecting convenience across the industry," said Drew Mize, executive vice president and general manager, North America Enterprise Productivity, at PDI Technologies.
This continues a busy period for PDI, which has integrated with order management company Otter, expanded the in-store offers in its GasBuddy app, brought its point-of-sale system over to North America and acquired c-store tech company Skupos since last summer.
