Dive Brief:
- Customer engagement platform Paytronix is partnering with Mobivity, a firm connecting businesses and video gaming, to allow brands to award loyalty points to customers who play select mobile games, according to a Thursday press release.
- Customers are directed through brand channels like websites, mobile apps, direct messages and on-site signs toward certain mobile games. Those who download and play the game can earn c-store rewards, including loyalty points or direct fuel discounts.
- This partnership also includes a rewards delivery system that c-store retailers can use to add discounts or points to loyalty accounts with no work on their end.
Dive Insight:
As retailers look for ways to make their stores and loyalty programs part of customers’ daily habits, Paytronix's unique partnership offers new ways to draw shoppers in and re-engage lapsed rewards members.
“Our partnership with Mobivity will allow our brands to effectively tap into the mobile gaming world and reward their loyalty members for engaging with interactive content,” said Jeff Hindman, CEO of Paytronix. “As we strive to provide brands with new creative and unique opportunities to interact with guests, the gaming space is an effective channel for driving in-store purchases and increasing overall loyalty.”
Mobile gaming is becoming more ubiquitous, with 65% of Americans saying they play and 45% doing so at least weekly, according to a survey from CivicScience earlier this year.
The Paytronix partnership also lets c-stores tap into the growing engagement with mobile games, said Bryce Daniels, president of Mobivity.
“By integrating our connected Rewards technology with the Paytronix loyalty platform, we are bridging the gap between digital engagement and in-store loyalty programs, collectively driving more value for brands and their customers,” said Daniels.
Last year, Paytronix added its Mobile Experience Builder, making it easier for convenience stores using its platform to send targeted text messages and other notifications. Customers can now use that functionality to push these gaming offers to loyalty customers.
Paytronix’s digital guest engagement platform is used in about 50,000 sites globally across more than 1,800 restaurant and convenience store brands. It provides loyalty programs, online ordering, gift cards, branded mobile applications and strategic insights to customers includingRefuel Operating Company, Alltown Fresh, United Dairy Farmers, QuickChek and Thorntons.
