Ferio Pugliese, one of Parkland’s top executives over the past half decade, departed last month, shortly before leadership initiated a strategic review of the convenience retailer’s assets.
Pugliese, Parkland’s senior vice president of corporate services since December, officially departed on Feb. 12, according to the company’s 2024 annual report. In his role, Pugliese was responsible for the enterprise-wide planning, alignment and execution of Parkland’s people and culture, health, safety and environment, and sustainability strategies, according to his company bio.
He joined Parkland in late 2020 as SVP of people, culture and health, safety and environment, and held that title until last December. Before Parkland, Pugliese was SVP for AirCanada, where he oversaw the company’s regional airline brand, business operation and government relations.
A spokesperson from Parkland did not respond by press time when asked to comment on Pugliese’s departure.
Lyla Garzouzi, Parkland’s VP of global health, safety and environment since 2022, has replaced Pugliese in the interim, according to Parkland’s website. Beyond the responsibilities Pugliese was tasked with, Garzouzi will also oversee Parkland’s asset integration strategies, including an IT transformation project called NextGen, according to her company bio.
Prior to joining Parkland, Garzouzi held several leadership roles in her nearly 20 years with Canadian utilities company Hydro One, including chief safety officer and vice president of distribution, according to her LinkedIn bio.
Parkland’s board of directors recently initiated a strategic review after years of underperformance. Parkland is exploring numerous options with the review, including mergers, divestitures, acquisitions and even an outright sale of its assets.
As of March 31, there is no update regarding Parkland’s strategic review.
