Parkland has named Donna Sanker as the new president of its international division, according to a Tuesday LinkedIn post. She will replace Pierre Magnan, who is stepping down from the post but will remain with the company as a strategic advisor.
Sanker will oversee both retail and commercial operations in the U.S. and international regions, according to the LinkedIn post. She will begin her tenure on July 1, a company spokesperson said via email.
“Having successfully led our Canadian business for three years, Donna became President of Parkland USA in 2023,” Parkland said in the announcement. “This July, we are bringing together our commercial and retail operations in the US and International regions under Donna Sanker.”
Sanker takes the new role after about a year and a half as the company’s president in the U.S. She originally joined Parkland as president, Canada, a role she held for more than three years.
Before Parkland, she worked at BP in a variety of roles, including chief marketing officer and chief operating officer.
Magnan has been president of Parkland’s international business since January 2019, according to his LinkedIn bio.
The announcement also noted that Senior Vice President Tyler Rimbley will lead Parkland's supply and trading activities.
Parkland has been streamlining its retail operations over the past year. Last summer, the retailer revealed it was looking to sell up to $500 million in “non-core” assets, including over 150 c-stores. While the company continues to see growth, it is “behind where we want to be due to both external and internal factors,” Chief Financial Officer Marcel Teunissen said during the company’s first quarter 2024 earnings call in May.
Calgary, Alberta-based Parkland is the largest independent fuel retailer and second-largest c-store operator in Canada. In the U.S., Parkland operates 650 retail sites across Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Florida.
