Dive Insight:
Parker’s is the latest convenience retailer to boost the size of its stores, joining banners like Rutter’s and Yatco looking to make its locations more of a destination for consumers.
Parker’s new, supersized location features more space across several areas of the store, including bathrooms, retail, self checkout and its foodservice section. The store also features a gaming room.
The site also includes commercial truck parking on its 6.84-acre lot, and sells ethanol-free fuel, diesel and high-flow diesel in addition to three grades of gasoline. Competition in the area includes a Circle K, a Shell station and a Raceway.
Parker’s Kitchen stores offer a broad made-to-order food menu with a variety of breakfast options and sandwiches, fried chicken and catfish and sides like mac and cheese.
In addition to its large size, the Camden County store is notable for its location just north of the Florida state line. For more than a year, Parker’s has been seeking approvals and securing locations in the nearby Jacksonville area.
