Dive Brief:
- East Coast c-store retailer Onvo unveiled its “next-generation” mobile app on Tuesday, according to an announcement from the company.
- The refreshed mobile experience is faster and more streamlined for users and gives Onvo Rewards members access to personalized offers and age-restricted promotions while making it easier to track and redeem rewards points, called Hoots.
- As c-stores seek to attract and retain loyalty members, Onvo joins retailers like BP and North Carolina-based Quality Oil in reworking company apps in recent months.
Dive Insight:
Onvo’s updated app is the latest step in a strategic rebrand it began in 2020 when it ditched its old name, Liberty Travel Plazas.
“Launching this app is a significant step forward for our brand, amplifying our ability to reward loyal guests, strengthen our community ties, and deliver meaningful value,” said Harman Aulakh, vice president of marketing for Onvo.
The new app, built by Rovertown, also supports dynamic coupons and targeted push notifications, enabling Onvo to offer more personalization. It will also offer a summer sweepstakes starting in May with prizes that include sports tickets, exclusive products and a Caribbean cruise.
“This next-generation app is designed to reward their loyalty, enrich their visits, and deliver more moments of delight,” said Aulakh. “It represents not just where we are today, but where we’re heading tomorrow.”
The app is not the only way Onvo has been expanding its brand. Over the past year, the company has introduced a proprietary hot foodservice program, Food on the Fly; debuted private label fuel; and opened its largest location to date.
