Convenience distributor Imperial Trading Co. acquired most of fellow distributor City Wholesale for an undisclosed amount on April 14, according to a Monday announcement.
Imperial, which works with more than 5,500 c-stores in the U.S., is acquiring City’s network, which includes more than 1,100 c-stores, along with educational and hospitality locations in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Mississippi. City will continue operating and managing its distribution warehouse in Birmingham, Alabama.
While Imperial isn’t reaching new states of operation with the acquisition, the company continues to grow its footprint among c-store operators in the U.S., growing to over 6,000 partnerships with its latest move.
“We are happy to add the talented management team led by the Dichiara family, employees and an Alabama distribution center to the Imperial-SAS distribution network to better service our customers in the Alabama and Florida region,” Wayne Baquet, president and CEO of Imperial, said in the announcement.
The merger will help City purchase products in greater quantities moving forward as it deals with supply chain issues, according to the announcement. The Birmingham-based distributor also looks to use its sale as a chance to share best practices across the retail outlets it works with.
Elmwood, Louisiana-based Imperial is the fourth largest c-store distributor in the U.S. Its offerings include over 10,000 c-store products, and the company provides expertise in category analytics, store layout design, digital menu boards and more.
