Doug Haugh, former president Parkland USA, has been named chief commercial officer for fuel producer and distributor Vertex Energy Inc., according to a Thursday announcement.
Haugh, whose role began April 17, will oversee Vertex’s commercial operations, from feedstock to finished products, according to the announcement.
"Doug is an exceptional addition to our senior leadership team,” Benjamin P. Cowart, CEO of Vertex, said in the announcement. “His comprehensive experience, innovative approach, and demonstrated skill in driving strategic growth plans are an ideal fit for this next phase of our development.”
Haugh stepped down as president of Parkland USA in December 2022 after five years with the c-store and fuel retailer. Parkland named current president Donna Sanker as his replacement about a week later.
As president of Parkland USA, Haugh completed 20 acquisitions in less than four years, and helped grow the company’s annual revenue to over $3.8 billion. He managed the company’s c-stores; commercial, wholesale and industrial fuels; propane; lubricants; and marine businesses.
Haugh began his career in 1994 as a distributor recruitment coordinator with ExxonMobil. He later held executive positions with H&W Petroleum and Mansfield Oil before being named president of Parkland’s USA division in 2017. Haugh also co-founded petroleum e-marketplace FuelQuest — where he worked with clients such as 7-Eleven, Walmart, Chevron and others — and served on the board of directors for mobile fueling company Filld.
Houston-based Vertex Energy is an energy transition company focused on the production and distribution of conventional and alternative fuels. Vertex owns a refinery in Mobile, Alabama, and is one of the largest processors of used motor oil in the U.S.
