Dive Brief:
- Enmarket has added four new Mexican burritos to its foodservice menu, according to a Tuesday press announcement.
- The new burrito options include sausage breakfast, bacon breakfast, taco beef and chicken fajita — all of which are produced by retail food distributor Tres Picosos, which specializes in burritos.
- Enmarket’s latest offer underscores the c-store industry’s continued focus on fresh food and made-to-order options as retailers seek new and creative ways to bring customers inside their stores.
Dive Insight:
Enmarket has emphasized its foodservice program for years, notably through its proprietary restaurant brand, The Eatery, which features breakfast options like biscuit sandwiches and wraps, as well as afternoon items such as fried chicken, wings, and even liver and gizzards.
According to the announcement, Enmarket formed its partnership with Tres Picosos in November 2022. Although it’s unclear what other burrito options Enmarket already offers — a company spokesperson did not respond by press time when asked for these details — Mexican burritos are a “key driver” for the retailer’s on-the-go customers, the company said in the announcement.
"Tres Picosos provides a great menu of high-quality food that our customers demand,” Ryan Krebs, director of food and beverage for Enmarket, said in the announcement.
Enmarket isn’t the only c-store retailer that’s recently brought Tres Picosos’ burritos to its menu. Earlier this year, York, Pennsylvania-based Rutter’s added the distributor’s beef and pork burritos to its food program, which has featured a rotating menu since early 2023.
Denver-based Tres Picosos has produced authentic Mexican burritos for the convenience and foodservice channels since 2005. Its burritos are available nationwide through Dot Foods, Inc.
Founded in 1964, Savannah, Georgia-based Enmarket operates 132 convenience stores, 11 QSRs and one fast casual restaurant across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
