EG America has hired Mendy Meriwether as its new vice president of food, dispensed beverage and QSR, the company announced via LinkedIn on Wednesday. This is a newly created role for the company, a spokesperson confirmed via email.
Meriwether will be in charge of food and beverage strategy for EG America, the U.S. arm of international retailer EG Group, according to the post.
“She will advance the company’s QSR brands and food service support teams, ensuring excellence across brand standards, development of core food operations, implementation of new and innovative initiatives, and execution of high-level campaigns,” the company wrote in its post.
Before taking the role at EG America, Meriwether spent more than two decades in a variety of roles with convenience competitor Wawa, according to her LinkedIn bio. She first joined the company in 2004 as an assortment manager and worked her way up to her most recent role as Wawa’s director of fresh food and beverage, which she began in April 2022.
Meriwether began her new role on Sept. 30.
This move comes after EG Group said in its Q2 trading update last month that its strategic growth initiatives in the U.S. include expanding its dispensed beverage program.
Blackburn, U.K.-based EG Group currently has more than 5,500 c-stores across the U.S., Europe and Australia. EG America is EG Group’s largest operation globally, with 1,500-plus sites across 10 banners in 30 states, including Cumberland Farms, Fastrac, Kwik Shop and Tom Thumb.
