Dive Brief:
- Gaubert Oil Company, which operates 18 Go-Bears convenience stores in Louisiana, will franchise and open Dickey’s Barbecue Pit restaurants at three of its locations, the company announced this week.
- The first Dickey’s under this partnership will open at the Go-Bears off I-49 in Grand Coteau, followed by the second at one of Gaubert’s five c-stores in Thibodaux, Louisiana. The third location was not yet specified. These restaurants will feature Dickey’s staple barbecue dishes, such as smoked brisket and ribs, as well as a variety of sides.
- This expands the list of restaurants Gaubert has at some of its Go-Bears stores, which already includes Subway, Noble Roman’s Pizza and its proprietary Southern Eatery QSR.

The partnership also expands Dickey’s presence in Louisiana, where it already has 14 restaurants, according to its website. Dickey’s has hundreds of restaurants across 41 states, and only five — Texas, Arizona, California, Colorado and Florida — have more locations than Louisiana.
Besides brisket and ribs, Dickey’s meat offerings include pulled pork, chicken breast, turkey and Polish kielbasa. It also offers boneless and bone-in chicken wings, as well as a variety of sandwiches, such as chicken, pulled pork and country fried steak. Its side dishes include fries, barbecue beans, cabbage slaw, fried okra, mac and cheese, potato salad and more.
Grady Gaubert, president and CEO of Gaubert Oil, said the deal to bring Dickey’s to three of its stores is a “home run” for its community.
“The food is incredible, my team is excited, and we’re thrilled to introduce Texas-style barbecue to our customers,” Gaubert said in the announcement.
The Go-Bears c-store in Grand Coteau already features an adjacent casino and one of Gaubert’s Southern Eatery restaurants, according to the company’s website. It’s unclear if the Dickey’s at that location will replace one of those businesses or be built separately.
Besides operating Go-Bears convenience stores, Thibodaux, Louisiana-based Gaubert Oil supplies fuel and lubricants across the state. It also runs a lodge in Golden Meadow, Louisiana.
