Dive Brief:
- Convenience and fuel retailer Delek U.S. Holdings has named Patrick Reilly executive vice president and chief commercial officer, according to a Thursday announcement.
- Reilly, whose role commenced March 1, has succeeded Todd O’Malley, who was promoted to chief operating officer in March 2022, a spokesperson for Delek said in an email.
- Delek’s latest executive hire comes days after its leadership team hinted at an impending acquisition or sale of its c-store assets during its fourth-quarter earnings call.
Dive Insight:
In his new role, Reilly will work closely with Delek's management team to help the company design strategies to pursue both short- and long-term objectives, according to the announcement.
The move comes as the c-store chain appears to be angling toward a major financial deal. A statement in the company’s fourth-quarter earnings report, released Feb. 28, said it is “evaluating various options and opportunities around logistics and retail.” In its earnings call, President and CEO Avigal Soreq said he’s certain that shareholders will be “very proud and happy with the deal that we are going to end up showing you.”
Reilly brings more than two decades of energy oil refining and trading experience to Delek. Before joining the company, Reilly spent nearly two years as vice president of trading for crude, clean products and feedstocks for oil company Motiva Enterprises.
Prior to joining Motiva, Reilly was regional head of trading for commodity company Gunvor, as well as global book leader for Tesoro Corp.’s marine fuels, fuel oil and refinery feedstocks divisions. Earlier in his career, Reilly spent over a decade at BP, where he held various positions including refinery asset economist and process engineer.
"[Reilly] brings a wealth of expertise from the energy sector that aligns our company vision for future growth,” Soreq said in the announcement. “I look forward to partnering with him on various initiatives to unlock value in pursuit of Delek's strategic priorities."
Brentwood, Tennessee-based Delek operates 249 convenience stores in West Texas and New Mexico.
