Dive Brief:
- Dandy Mini Marts, a convenience store company operating in New York and northern Pennsylvania, has added mobile ordering at 10 of its stores, according to a Tuesday announcement from the company.
- Customers can order food, drinks and grocery items for pickup or delivery. Delivery is managed through c-store tech company Vroom Delivery, according to a spokesperson for the chain.
- Dandy joins the ranks of convenience stores giving customers a way to order fresh food via their apps, including Family Express, which added the feature earlier this year, and Rutter’s, which just developed its mobile ordering last year.
Dive Insight:
The increasing interest in mobile ordering from convenience stores like Dandy mirrors growing interest from customers not only in buying from their phones, but using company-specific apps to do so. For example, 36% of customers have used a QSR’s website or app to order food, and 34% plan to do so for the first time in the next year, according to data from an April Tillster report.
If Dandy’s mobile ordering program is successful, the company plans to expand it to the other stores in Dandy’s footprint in the future, though there is no timeline yet set for that expansion, a Dandy spokesperson said in an email.
Dandy’s menu includes pizza, subs, salads, wraps, and sides. It also offers hot and cold drinks, snacks, grocery items, and more. The company also keeps its menu fresh with limited time offers. For example, the company brought back its brisket pizza and flatbread LTO earlier this month, and added brisket mac & cheese and loaded fries for 2024. It also released a line of Amped Refreshers in flavors like blood orange tea, peach honey lemonade and pomegranate pineapple.
Customers can also get $5 off their first mobile order.
Sayre, Pennsylvania-based Dandy Mini Marts has more than 60 stores, mostly in the New York and Pennsylvania Twin Tiers area.
