After more than six years as chief retail officer of Energy North Group, parent company of c-store retailer Haffner’s, Jonathan Ketchum retired from the company on Dec. 31, 2023, according to a post he made on LinkedIn.
During his time with the company, Ketchum oversaw the acquisition of 28 sites, remerchandised the stores for a 7.5% boost in same-stores sales across his first three years and cut shrink to almost half a percentage point, according to his LinkedIn bio.
Across his four-decade career, Ketchum also worked in a variety of roles for a number of convenience retailers and oil companies.
“Many thanks to all those who I have worked with and contributed to my successes,” said Ketchum in the post. “Looking forward to what 2024 and beyond will bring.”
Brian Koenig has now taken on the chief retail officer role, according to the company’s website. He initially joined Energy North in September 2023 according to his LinkedIn profile.
Koenig comes to Energy North from Circle K, where he worked for more than 20 years, most recently as the company’s director of marketing for the Rocky Mountain Division. He also served for more than a decade as regional director of operations for Circle K Great Lakes.
Before his time at Circle K, Koenig was president and COO of Sterling Stores LLC, a convenience store chain that was bought out by Circle K in 2007 according to news reports from the time.
He also spent seven years as a zone leader with Kwik Trip.
Energy North Group operates more than 70 gas stations, c-stores, car washes and foodservice locations in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire. It also distributes heating oil and propane to nearly 50,000 customers.
