The new year brings an opportunity for c-stores to entice cost-conscious customers into their locations with bundles, deals and discounts.
In just the past couple weeks, three major East Coast convenience retailers shared new ways for their customers to save money on food and beverage purchases. Wawa added specials on multiple drinks, EG America revealed its latest meal deal and QuickChek expanded its value sub menu.
Wawa offers drink discounts
Pennsylvania-based c-store juggernaut Wawa announced its “Mornings Made Easy” campaign on Friday.
From Jan. 6 through Feb. 16, Wawa Rewards members can take advantage of $1 hot coffee, $2 iced coffee and $3 Monster energy drinks. Customers who choose the hot coffee option can select from regular and decaf, French vanilla, hazelnut, Cuban roast, 100% Colombian and dark roast where available.
The coffee option could be a big seller: Wawa noted in the announcement that hot coffee is the most popular reward redeemed from its loyalty program.
This discount to start 2025 comes as Wawa is in the middle of a huge, multi-state expansion plan. If the value deal is a hit, it could give customers in new regions more of a reason to sample Wawa’s stores.
EG America adds $3 breakfast deal
EG America is bringing a $3 breakfast value meal to its Fastrac c-stores in upstate New York, as well as its Cumberland Farms locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New York, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
The deal, which starts on Jan. 8, includes a sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a croissant and any size hot or iced coffee, the company announced on Monday. Customers can also add a hashbrown for $1.
EG America has been returning to the value well multiple times in the last year. In June, the Massachusetts-based retailer rolled out a $5 meal package that included any two roller grill items or two cheese or pepperoni pizza slices, a one-liter beverage and a bag of chips. Then in September, it released a breakfast-focused deal which included any breakfast sandwich and a Monster or BodyArmor energy drink or juice for $5.
QuickChek expands $3.99 sub line
New Jersey-based QuickChek, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Murphy USA, added its meatball sub to the chain’s $3.99 6-inch sub menu, the company announced last week. Customers can add a pack of M&Ms or two fresh-baked cookies for a dollar more. The $3.99 menu, which was first unveiled in October, also includes the company’s chicken tender and Italian subs.
Customers can also add a hot or iced self-serve coffee to any breakfast sandwich or burrito for a dollar.
QuickChek also unveiled a number of new menu additions, including the strawberry-flavored “New Year’s resolution” LTO coffee, an antibiotic-free-chicken sandwich, protein smoothies and matcha lattes.
